FMB Posted September 28, 2013 Share #21 Posted September 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm surprised that no one seems interested in cases and bags that are not adapted to the camera M 240 equipped with the normal or MF handgrips that in both cases besides exciting features allow a comfortable handling of the camera. And no one seems to care about how to host the M 240 plus the weird EVF2 confortable installed in our heavy bags.. Those accessories are not IMHO only ocasional instruments to fit on, but permanent parts of the complet camera to be ready for a more quick accion. Fang Posted September 28, 2013 Share #22 Posted September 28, 2013 Looks good fang Yes, it feels good with the hand grip and improvised thumb grip. For the price, it does the job of protecting the camera well.

Thanks Francisco - it is a real bitch (mind my language) trying to put the M 240 with the EVF into any of my bags. Got to take out the EVF when putting it into most of my bags. 3 dimensionally it is very bulky. Anyone with any recommendations.
FMB Posted September 28, 2013 Share #25 Posted September 28, 2013 I think the only system is to put the camera on its base, like you put it on a table. In many cases it should be done over a hole where should be two wide angles (or short lenses) with some kind of cover. Francisco.
FMB Posted September 28, 2013 Share #26 Posted September 28, 2013 May be instead of lenses some accessories, small flash, a so on into a paralepiped box like a base for the camera. Francisco.
brill64 Posted September 28, 2013 Share #27 Posted September 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) ..the leather veneer is carefully bonded to a thick metal foil so that some parts of the case are more malleable than solid leather, the latter of which which can be annoying if there are any manufacturing defects. It can also be molded more accurately to the shape of the camera & your hands & keep that shape. The use of foil & cardboard as design materials is also a conscious effort to make the half case as lightweight as possible, since the camera & glass are already quite heavy enough, it's not such a bad idea. cswanson Posted September 30, 2013 Share #28 Posted September 30, 2013 I recently received my Leica M for which I had waited almost a year. Its predecessor, the M9, had been sheathed in a leather half case from RainbowImaging for two years. I had paid $99.99 for it. Unfortunately, RainbowImaging does not (yet?) make a leather case for the M; otherwise I would have bought one. But I did the next best thing. I repurposed the old M9 case using a very sharp knife. The leather cuts beautifully and the layers do not separate after cutting. I touched up the edges with flat black paint from an applicator tube. The result is quite satisfactory and not at all conspicuous. If anyone is interested, I suppose I could take some photos. By the way, a new M9 RainbowImaging half case now costs only $65.99. Assuming the quality has remained the same, that is quite a deal! Curt

I had been using a Mr Zhou case on my M9 and was very happy with it. Zhou is waiting for his M240 so has not yet produced a new version of his case. I performed some simple surgery using a sharp Stanley knife and the results are satisfactory enough to use until a new version is available. The Mr Zhou cases are well made and fit well but are not as flamboyant as Luigi or Angelo Pelle cases with their more exotic choice of materials. They are much less expensive at £45. jamriman Posted November 2, 2013 Share #30 Posted November 2, 2013 I just ordered a Kenji Leather Half Case for Leica M240 found on ebay. Looks very light and simple. I prefer less bulk at the cost of less protection. Here is his site, you can find his M240 case on ebay. Home
leicavkk Posted November 7, 2013 Share #31 Posted November 7, 2013 Found a great deal for a used Angelo Pelle M240 half case with cover for the back ( the one that sells on the pelle site for 179 eur ). Really like the case. Had a Luigi case for the M9, but I think this one feels better overall ( although the LV button is slightly hidden ). The Luigi case wasn't bad but it degraded over time but I feel the Pelle cases are a bit better.

algrove Posted November 7, 2013 Share #33 Posted November 7, 2013 I'm not a big fan of cases period, but I did order the Leica leather case for US$170 and it fits to a T.
sclemmons Posted November 7, 2013 Share #34 Posted November 7, 2013 I am using the same Walther Benser soft case that I used for the M6. It provides no protection for the camera in use, but it does cover it for carry and to throw in a bag. And it is a Leica classic. I like the idea of one of these custom glove-like soft cases. But I am trying to visualize how to charge the battery? Do you really remove the strap and the case to recharge the battery every time? That would appear to be necessary. How much of a hassle is it? Particularly with some of the complicated models.
walterleica Posted November 7, 2013 Share #35 Posted November 7, 2013 Hi All I recently designed a new ostrich leather camera sleeve for my own camera. It just slips over the M-body leaving the bottom plate open for easy access.A friend saw it and the rest is history. Kind regards Walterleica:D

Guest malland Posted November 8, 2013 Share #38 Posted November 8, 2013 I just read through this thread and found that I'm sneezing and have a runny red nose: seems that I'm allergic to half-cases. Better stop typing as my finger tips are getting red too, but I feel better having gotten this off my chest. —Mitch/Bangkok Looking for Baudelaire [WIP]
