skimmel Posted September 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2013 Great review, thanks for posting. Nice to hear about how you use the camera in the field. One thing: When I click the images, they don't enlarge, I just get a (smaller) thumbnail.

Not sure about the pics as I checked on my iPhone and iPad and they both enlarged. Sorry it isn't working for you.

vcs700s Posted September 12, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted September 12, 2013 Auto review can be turned off in the X Vario menu. I did but there is still a lag. Even with auto review off, when I take a pic it is on the LCD/EVF for a moment. With it off the pic should be stored but not visible with auto review off. Unfortunately, that is not the case. :-(
Guest badbob Posted September 12, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 12, 2013 Oops! My bad! I tried it last night but didn't see the image due to lighting, but today I see it clearly. That definitely should not happen, and I hope they correct that soon. The other thing I wonder about though is the delay, if that's a result of pausing while writing to the card. I suppose some cameras have buffering that can write in the background while the camera is ready right now to shoot the next frame, but don't know about the X Vario. Maybe someone can ask the technical guys at Solms.

waloszek Posted September 12, 2013 Share #12 Posted September 12, 2013 >> Even with auto review off, when I take a pic it is on the LCD/EVF for a moment. With it off the pic should be stored but not visible with auto review off. Unfortunately, that is not the case. :-( I checked this like many others, and, indeed, there is a review picture for about a second, even when it is turned off -- obviously a firmware bug. However, irrespective of the display of the review picture you can take another picture -- you need not wait until the review picture has vanished. I set the review time to 5 sec to test this, and this it still possible to take further pictures almost immediately. However, if you press the shutter too fast, the camera may get confused and does not take a picture -- but this has, in my opinion, nothing to do with the review picture. ricardojh Posted September 12, 2013 Share #13 Posted September 12, 2013 Enjoyed reading your review. I use the X2 and have a similar style of shooting and presets. Aside from the obvious zoom, are there other advantages/disadvantages to the V, compared to the X2? Thanks! Ricardo.
