philipus Posted September 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) In case it is of interest, I found out during a phone call with Customer Service yesterday that the big grain "vulcanite" is no longer offered for à la carte MPs and M7s. Since it is still in the Konfigurator I double-checked and the person I spoke with said that this is indeed the case and that the Konfigurator will be updated to reflect this. Too bad imho. CalArts 99 Posted September 3, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2013 I thought that they announced that last year? Leica M cameras: change from vulcanite to leatherette cladding | Leica News & Rumors Or is it the latest leatherette that's also being discontinued now? philipus Posted September 3, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted September 3, 2013 What I understood was that the "Vulkanit" listed third from bottom in the Configurator is no more. I even asked twice about this due to the information from last year. I hope I'm not spreading false rumours here and may certainly have misunderstood the CS rep. semi-ambivalent Posted September 3, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2013 I thought that they announced that last year? Leica M cameras: change from vulcanite to leatherette cladding | Leica News & Rumors Or is it the latest leatherette that's also being discontinued now? My MP is in the queue so I'll be finding out eventually. It will likely somewhat match my M3 which was re-covered before I bought it. I'll live with that, but I really wanted the cottage cheese. If it comes with that suregrip stuff I'm sending it back. s-a Note to Leica: Update the configurator and fire your webmaster.
semi-ambivalent Posted September 4, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 4, 2013 I shot off a civil email to the folks from whom I ordered my MP ALC. They responded promptly and said they were contacting Leica and would get to the bottom of things and get back to me. I have no doubt they will do exactly that. Until then gonna sit tight. s-a
