chap Posted April 11, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Am looking at the V-Lux 1 or D-Lux 3 as a backup to M8 but curious about final resolution. Reported numbers are: Â V-Lux 1 4:3 Aspect Ratio 3648 x 2736 2560 x 1920 2048 x 1536 1600 x 1200 3:2 Aspect Ratio 3600 x 2400 3248 x 2160 2560 x 1712 2048 x 1360 16:9 Aspect Ratio 3584 x 2016 3072 x 1728 1920 x 1080 (HDTV standard) Â D-Lux 3 4:3 format 3168 x 2376 2880 x 2160 2304 x 1728 2048 x 1536 1600 x 1200 1280 x 960 3:2 format 3568 x 2376 3248 x 2160 2560 x 1712 2048 x 1360 16:9 format 4224 x 2376 3840 x 2160 3072 x 1728 1920 x 1080 Â Appears to me that the V-Lux has better resolution in 4:3 aspect ratio, cameras are equivalent at 3:2 aspect ratio, and the D-Lux has better resolution at 16:9 aspect ratio. Â How should one evaluate the two relative to final image quality (ignoring size, weight, zoom and other physical differences that are more a matter of personal preference)? Â Which will produce the best quality file for enlargement at 11 x 14?
