Greeting from Victoria, BC Canada!

OK - I have to admit it. Leica is not just a camera, it is so much more than that. My interest in photography was sparked (from a distance) by my father's M3. Such was was contrariness of youth, and beyond, that I tried several other cameras, none of which stayed around as did the memory of that camera. Then, many years later, and only three years ago, I purchased a D-Lux 4, choosing to concentrate on its merits - definitely the right choice.

The last few months was a turbulent time, moving away from a DSLR system "right moment, wrong lens", to a digital super-zoom. After returning two defective models from another manufacturer, stability returned in the form of a V-Lux 4. Difficult to explain but I cannot help feeling that with these two cameras I have the opportunity of becoming a much better photographer. The helpful hints already provided by forum members, make it clear that the Leica is not just a camera!

Welcome to the group, and I mean it in a couple of ways. First, it's always nice to meet new members. Second, I went through the transition to Leica myself. Used Nikon gear for over 30 years and was satisfied. At one point a friend bought an M and I noticed his photography went from good to very good and interesting. That planted the seed with me. I now only use my V-Lux 4 and Lumix LX7. Something about the Leica makes for more serious and enjoyable photography. You will find the members of this forum enjoyable and very knowledgeable.

Enjoy yourself and start posting photos.
