Richardgb Posted August 30, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 30, 2013 After a recent factory tour (9 August), I was reliably told Leica were planning a series of 'Grand Opening' events in May 2014. Sorry, I can't remember the exact dates, but the series would be over a week to allow separate visits by dealers, by journalists, and finally by the punters. There will be no factory tours at Solms after the end of this year in order for there not to be any problems with the actual removal process. This would mean moving the specialist equipment over a period of about 4 months, so what will happen to output in this period is anyone's guess. Although Solms is not a physically 'big' factory, it does include areas such as dust-free rooms, which I imagine would take some time to prepare before equipment can be set up.
