barjohn Posted August 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have any experience with getting the finger loop? Is there a guide as to what size one should get? It does not appear to be in stock in the US but is in stock in Australia and Germany. Costs less to order from Germany than the US list price. The finger loops are the same as the ones for the M so perhaps an M owner can comment.

If you have large hands get the large loop ... if not so large get the medium size ... and expect the small size is for ladies. I'm planning to buy a loop and assume I need the large size as have 8.5" wrist circumference. None in stock at any of the UK dealers. dunk
barjohn Posted August 6, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted August 6, 2013 In stock in Germany and Australia. Is it circumference of three fingers? Nothing on Leica site to indicate how to select. For the price one would think you would get all three!
wda Posted August 6, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2013 It surely is the kind of item you need to try at a dealer. Getting the right fitting is crucial. It is like trying to buy a viewfinder correction lens 'blind'. At least one UK dealer has stock and invites personal callers to try the latter before buying. That makes sense and the dealer rises on my scale of service.
barjohn Posted August 6, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted August 6, 2013 US dealers do not yet have any in stock to try. I wouldn't expect the fit to be super critical but maybe it is. I ordered a medium so I guess I will find out.
waloszek Posted August 6, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 6, 2013 Gosh! Did you critical guy buy a X Vario? BTW, I bought one in mid-July... Best regards, Gerd

waloszek Posted August 7, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 7, 2013 I checked two German stores (Foto Erhardt, Foto Koch). Both offer them but do not have them available. Best regards, Gerd

TTBOMK no UK dealers have them in stock - and when they become available the M 240 and X-Vario owners who have pre-ordered will have priority. dunk
marknorton Posted August 7, 2013 Share #12 Posted August 7, 2013 I tried them at Photokina and I think for most American/European men, the largest size is required. The smaller sizes may suit those form Asia, women (trying hard not the stereotype here) and pre-school children.

barjohn Posted August 8, 2013 Author Share #16 Posted August 8, 2013 John, would it be possible to press the shutter button with 4 fingers through the loop? Sure, if the loop swivels like the one on the Titanium.
Peter H Posted August 8, 2013 Share #17 Posted August 8, 2013 It doesn't sound very comfortable though. I should have thought three fingers in the loop would be the best way to hold and operate the camera in a natural way.
barjohn Posted August 9, 2013 Author Share #18 Posted August 9, 2013 Of course, I was being tung in cheek. It would have been nice if they had a threaded location on the body so one didn't need to add the hand grip to use the finger loop.
marknorton Posted August 9, 2013 Share #19 Posted August 9, 2013 How many fingers go through the loop when holding it? Is it 3 or 4? From memory, just two, second and third fingers but since I use my second finger to press the focus button, I'm not sure how well it will work. mikej Posted June 12, 2015 Share #20 Posted June 12, 2015 Hi, all - just purchased a loop (large) for my XV today at the Washington DC Leica store. I had been using a wrist strap from Luigi for many years. Like others, I found the price of the loop to be exorbitant, but I really like the feel of it in my hand with the handgrip. I have a fairly large hand, and the large loop feels secure but not too tight. I'm looking forward to a test run with the loop in the next week or so to see if it will replace my wrist strap permanently. Cheers, Mike
