Greetings-

I just love Tri-X and Rodinal (1 : 50 as 1:25 produces too much fog). I have also had great resuts with X-Tol 1 : 1 which is easier to come by these days but I still give the nod to Rodinal for its sharp, chrisp images.

HP5 Plus with Rodianl 1:25 has also pleased me but Tri X seems to provide more of a three dimensional effect. The hp5/rod combo required approx 11 minutes @ 68' F in my darkroom (enlarger/lens/water/therometer). The grain and tonalities were finer/smoother than Tri-X but I still prefer the overall vibe of Tri-X. FP4 is also in my "hall of fame."

It's really nice to see dialog on film in this digital age. One thing about film/darkroom and Leica M, it's more about great images than the next upgrade to software/CPU/memory/OS/HD/HDcache/video card/2 core/4 core dual two core/ dual 4 core/camera firmware and muli-threaded conflicts etc etc.

As I try to make "cents" of the digital thing, my M-6's/darkroom function as always.

guess I'm really going to learn the meaning of policical correct now!

My Best!

John

I agree.

I'm still hesitating between TX and HP5.

Because I'm shooting a lot indoors I often push the TX to ISO 1600, (Rodinal 1+50 22 min @ 20C° °agitate every 5 minutes for 5 seconds) this gives me better detail in the shadows compared to Delta 3200 @ ISO 1600 developped in LC29.

28mm ASPH cron 1/30 @ f2
