tobey bilek Posted August 15, 2013 Share #21 Posted August 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Air tight small one time use size glass bottles. Toss after manufacturer says expired. Mix your own D76, a liter or two at a time. Same 120 ml bottles. Good for 6 months after which it goes off slowly. I did care tests some years back. When you mix your own, you know how old it is. Ilford has date code hidden in lot number. It is the first two digits, 00 to 99 when it starts again. It is changed monthly. I think it is BS this should be secret. I ruined some of the best pics I ever made with developer that does not change color. I gave up on Xtol and Ilford pre made for this. The Xtol was only a few weeks old. Kodak replaced it, but they can`t replace the images which will never happen again. Prints on #4 paper look terrible. There is NO RELIABLE home test according to Kodak except to develop a whole roll in the proper quantity on solution.
