spylaw4 Posted July 26, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2013 Sorry to hear of your loss. Report to Leica. Watch that auction site. Talk to your insurance company. "To lose one X is unfortunate, to lose both ......etc. etc. "
Machelen Posted July 26, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted July 26, 2013 Sorry to hear of your loss. Report to Leica. Watch that auction site. Talk to your insurance company. "To lose one X is unfortunate, to lose both ......etc. etc. " Insurance only pays when you are hid on the head! Pickpockets are very clever and do not touch you, and when you take care of your kids or,... thieves are quick. Very unfortunate and I still do not understand. I informed Leica and Police. Do not expect much. I reported on "stolencamera.com", no result. Every time when somewhere a Leica is found, I jump. I went the same day of the last theft to Leica Shop in Vienna. They told me honestly: it will be very difficult. But I don't give up. That's why I also posted it here. Thanks.
wda Posted July 27, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2013 Sorry to read your sad story. For the future, was there more you could have done to secure your cameras when in such theft-prone locations? My practice is the have my minimal kit in a secure bag, taut strap around my shoulder and neck, with the bag resting under my hands in front. I make it as difficult as possible for anyone to gain access. Photography starts in a safer place.
Machelen Posted July 28, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted July 28, 2013 Thanks. Indeed no excuse for not being careful, but in both cases they did not know what to find in the luggage; it was not openly camera stuff... Believe me I blamed myself, I blamed the Airport (it happened at the check-in; there was a problem so I was distracted ) I blamed ... who knows. But since they were ordinary thieves, I hope they sold my Leica (s) and that someone will recognise the numbers ... Who knows . Jan
