jagwar.jim Posted July 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My great weekend ended in the worst way last night - I was taking a photo and the camera stopped winding on. After rewinding the film and having a look inside, the shutter had stopped halfway across, at an angle. It's jammed :-( The timing is really bad, in a month I am moving from Japan back to the uk. I have emailed Leica Japan (yet to get back to me) asking what's the best course of action, but I think it might be best to wait until I'm in the uk and take it to the Leica store in London. Does anyone have experience with this problem? Or taking a broken Leica to a shop? I'm also wondering how much it's likely to cost... Thanks for any help guys, It's been a sad day. Advertisement Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Hi jagwar.jim, Take a look here Leica M7 shutter broken. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guido Posted July 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2013 Since you'll be in the European Union, why not send the camera directly to Leica in Solms for repair then?
pico Posted July 22, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 22, 2013 Remove the lens, bottom and back-plate. Carefully examine the shutter from both sides. Look for a bit of film, probably torn off at a sprocket hole, in the shutter.
