ISO 640 f3.5 1/30 18mm (27mm) ... cropped image ISO 1600 f5.2 1/30 33.8mm (50.7mm) ISO 1600 f5.2 1/30 33.8mm (50.7mm) Wood sculpture in Peterborough Cathedral taken using ambient light. Leica X Vario set to: Auto shutter speed, Auto aperture, Auto ISO, Auto WB and with IS 'ON' ... thus IS would have activated for the second and third images above. The X Vario's image stabilisation works by taking two pictures in succession and then combines them 'in camera' via digital processing. Some critics of the X Vario , X1 and X2 cameras dismiss this form of IS and say it's useless because it can only be used with static subjects. However, in practice it works very well.
