Guest malland Posted July 23, 2013 Share #21 Posted July 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was a fair observation by dwbell so why get snippy? Problem is that every time you advertise your thread in an unrelated thread you drag that thread off topic as you've again done here and the OP's enquiry's got lost... Sorry, look back: it was dwbel who dragged the thread off-topic: he could easily sent me a PM if he was so exercised about this. —Mitch/Pak Nam Pran Paris au rhythme de Basquiat and Other Poems [download link for book project]

CaptZoom Posted July 24, 2013 Share #23 Posted July 24, 2013 Thanks for all the replies. I was getting tired waiting for the M240 and saw a clean M9 on Ebay I was going to buy. But thought it may be too close to the Fuji to be much inprovement for the $. Yes, I suspect the high ISO is better on the Leica than the Fuji just becase the sensor is bigger. But I am not sure. In any case, I decided to keep wating for the M I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the new M. In comparing high ISO (for me anything over 800), I would include post processing time. M9 can perform well (but not for critical applications) up to ISO 1200 with careful capture and PP work. There's little doubt that the new M performs at least as well. And there's also little doubt that the Fuji handles ISO 1200 well except that it requires significantly less work in post. I like to minimize PP work because it means more time for paid assignments. If high ISO were the only concern (or of paramount concern), I would look at other cameras than Leica's M line. That being said, for the print sizes you mention I do not think the M9's advantage is significant unless you follow meticulous capture, processing, and printing techniques.
