disconnekt Posted April 20, 2007 Share #21 Â Posted April 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) What is up with this lens? I can't find ANY shop in Paris that's even heard of it, except the Leica shop that told me they won't be selling it because it's distributed by Panasonic. Tried calling the shops that sell the L1 and nobody has heard of this lens. A salesman even called Panasonic France and they claimed to have now knowledge of its existence. Such a bummer, I've been waiting so long already....

disconnekt Posted April 24, 2007 Share #23 Â Posted April 24, 2007 Thanks for the model number. I see that both B&H and J&R have it listed on their sites as out of stock. Seems kinda bizarre for a new product.
DonQuijote Posted August 17, 2007 Share #24  Posted August 17, 2007 Hi Leica-parents, in case you still want to adopt this little Summilux puppy I just signed the adoption papers with Matsuiya store in Japan via ebay(baby specs:LEICA D SUMMILUX 25mm f/ 1.4 ASPH). It cost me US $948.89. Service was fast, very polite, great communication and the infant is on a plane to NZ. I will upload pics post-arrival and share experiences. Good luck, Michael  Store: eBay Store - MATSUIYASTORE: Zeiss, Pentax, Nikon Item: LUMIX LEICA D SUMMILUX 25mm f/ 1.4 ASPH Brand New - (eBay item 150151938545 end time Aug-15-07 21:09:57 PDT)

Good luck, Michael  That's quite a good price - but does it include postage? And have you factored in potential import duties of ..... how much? DonQuijote Posted August 17, 2007 Share #26 Â Posted August 17, 2007 No, postage is an extra US$30.80 (no insurance included, but courier registered parcel with tracking number advised). I am hoping not having to pay any import duties, never had to date for any items bought from overseas. I am not sure but I thought import duties only apply when importing for resale and when quantity > 1. But this is not based on any firm knowledge on my part. I will let you know when the item has arrived from Japan. Arigatou gozaimasu, Michaelsan
spylaw4 Posted August 17, 2007 Share #27 Â Posted August 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) FWIW in the UK, when importing by postal sevices I frequently have not had to pay duty on small items but have been charged duty on a number of occasions, particularly photo items. DonQuijote Posted August 21, 2007 Share #28 Â Posted August 21, 2007 A box! Excitement! - The Leica D Summilux 25mm f1.4/ASPH has arrived from Japan. No duty to pay and the item was incredibly safe and meticuously packed. Original Lumix product box with foam, then in a separate box with plastic air-cushions.Seller in Japan communicated & shipped fast - highly recommend eBay Store - MATSUIYASTORE. I cannot wait to test this little puppy. Only drawback all accompanying doco in Japanese - so I will have to learn Japanese. The lens feels heavy and leaves an initial impression of quality. Lumix lens cap, came with pouch/lens storage bag and lens hood. Manual focus provides smooth action - not too stiff or loose. Very happy chappy - Arigatou, Michael

spylaw4 Posted August 22, 2007 Share #30 Â Posted August 22, 2007 Michael - There's nothing of great importance in the instruction leaflet. Mostly the usual and sensible caveats regarding usage and cleaning. The lens is not waterproofed. and if using on the L1 you must have firmware V2 installed. If you need other or any specific info PM me.
