Remote Switch for V-Lux 4

Hello

 

I have recently bought a Leice V-Lux 4 camera, which I love.

 

I have bought off Fleabay a remote shutter release/switch which was said to work with the camera. It is an import from Hong Kong and is labelled DMW-RS1 for Panasonic Lumix (with no mention of the V-Lux)

 

Ok, I realise it is £4.99 but now this is the principle.

 

I plugged it into the camera and it works up to the point of focussing and giving me the green light and then...... nothing. It doesn't take a picture.

 

I tried phoning Leica who refused to discuss it due to it not being made by them but they couldn't tell me what remote switch would work despite the camera having the port for one (hmmmm).

Any help would be appreciated.
