I have been a working pro now for forty-one years. Over this time I've used Nikons,Canons, 4x5 Sinars,Hasselblads and the list goes on. Always trying to keep up with technology, it has been costly and time consuming. Now with digital I'm using Canon 5DMK111's with "L' lens'. With that said I feel I can

speak with a little qualification.

I purchased the X Vario the first day they were in stores and found it to be a breath of fresh air. It feels as good as the M9 in your hands. It produces very good results. I don't feel like I have to carry 3 or 4 lens around with me now.

It focuses fast enough . I'm not shooting NFL Football games with it.

I feel "Leica" did put a lot of thought into this camera. I hope that the people that bashed this camera will try it. I think you will be surprised.

Way to go Leica !!!!

By the way, I've owned M3,M6,M8,M9,X1,X2,Dlux5 & 6.

Well said, Jim! I can’t match your photographic credentials but I was attracted to the X Vario for similar reasons. I’m enjoying using it very much.

 

Those who fell for Leica’s ill-judged Mini M tease were inevitably disappointed when their expectations weren’t met. Nobody likes being made a fool of and I’m sure that is at the root of some people’s hostility to the camera. Like you, I believe they might be surprised if they gave it a try.
