Ecaton Posted July 11, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted July 11, 2013 Now I have to sell all my Leica?...... what a shame. Why I still keep my Monochrom? Â From the first generation NEX5 to the RX1R IQ in about 3 years, what an improvement and what a steep learning curve. Leica went from the exciting and innovative M9 to the M240 and XV in the same time period. And the sensor and electronics improvements are far from being over. Ruhayat Posted July 11, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted July 11, 2013 From the first generation NEX5 to the RX1R IQ in about 3 years, what an improvement and what a steep learning curve. Leica went from the exciting and innovative M9 to the M240 and XV in the same time period. And the sensor and electronics improvements are far from being over. Â The small difference, of course, being that Sony has the resources to design their own sensor technology, thereby allowing them access to market leadership by 2 years in most cases. Yet their DSLRs, even the more recent SLT ones, still fail to light up the DSLR market. Makes you wonder why, almost. Â Not to mention, hey, I for one find the M240 - at least as a concept, not having owned one - exciting and innovative (and I'm not a blind Leicaphile, either: I hated the M8, so much so I sold mine after 2 months). And who else but an innovator would have dared come up with an uber-exciting monochrome-only camera that costs the same as a small car, and get away with it? Â For a company the size of one of Sony's departments, I'd say Leica has done a lot, too, in 3 years.
