2wk Posted July 9, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a studio shoot coming up this thursday. I am going to be using my brand new Monochrom for at least some of the shoot. I asked this lighting question over in the RFF with no answers. Basically I am trying to get something similar to this Hedi Slimane shoot. Any help with lighting suggestions would be much appreciated. 31458_00030_038_e by phi.design, on Flickr

Mike-K Posted July 9, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 9, 2013 I'm not a pro studio shooter, but I guess it's a tube from the back of the model and probably a dish from the front/top, just above the camera
JPH1962 Posted July 10, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 10, 2013 Look on the photo as it would be a mirror - it will show you most of the lighting used. look at the quality of the shadows - these will give you a fairly good idea of: number of sources (I see 4 sources) position type (hard / soft) otherwise you find out judging the famous five: - highlights - shadow definition - shadow contrast - coverage / eveness of the lit surface - Edge transfer good luck JPH
MichaelRabern Posted July 14, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 14, 2013 I'm not a pro studio shooter, but I guess it's a tube from the back of the model and probably a dish from the front/top, just above the camera And maybe one right at the feet the throw those shadows. (This post is great. It hits home, as I have been thinking a lot about light within the studio environment.) Thanks!
