Purple fringe

This is normal and sometimes called "sensor ringing". The M8's sensor is a bit more prone to these fringes than other cameras I use. You can minimize the effect by slightly under-exposing scenes with extremely bright areas. You can also remove some or all of the fringes with Photoshop CS2's/CS3's chromatic aberration adjustments. Thanks Ken

Filter / Distort / Lens Correction, it's the Chromatic Aberration option with it's Fix Red/Cyan and Yellow/Blue sliders.

David/Steve, somewhere I have a Photoshop action which may also help. What it does is to find edges between light and dark objects, asks you to select the color of the fringe with the eye dropper and then desaturates that color near the edges. I don't know where it is at the moment, I'll see if I can locate it.
