I have been trying for nearly a month now to upload an HTML web gallery created in LR5 to to my website. Some of the parameters seem to be missing in the LR5 Upload Settings menu. I have tried every conceivable combination I could come up with so I am now wondering if anyone else is having trouble with it or if anyone is having success uploading.

When I check in Microsoft Expressions I am unable to see where my uploads are going. I do have Front Page extensions turned on on my server.

Would sure appreciate some suggestions. If you can help me solve this dilemma I'll immediately get you on my Christmas Card List !! Thanks in advance...

I've never FTP'd from Lightroom, so take all of this with a pinch of salt.

Does Lightroom seem to indicate that it's uploaded the gallery succesfully?

Have you had a mooch around your website with an FTP client to see if it's been uploaded, but not going where you (and presumably your web development package) thinks it's going?

Presumably in Expressions there's a setting to sync Expressions with your website - and therefore download the album from the 'real' website to the local one maintained by Expressions. Is this switched on? Sometimes the sync is only one way - ie. it will put any new local files onto the web server, but not download any that have been created outside of the software.

I confess it's ages since I used Frontpage, but I used to copy any albums into Frontpage and then push them out to the remove web server.

If I have time I'll have a play at the weekend - I like this sort of problem, though I'm not an expert.

Thank you Steve for your suggestions. I'll go through all of them and see what they produce. I have been extremely tenacious at this but it does not seem to be helping. As frequently in my life it will likely turn out to be some something really simple but so far I haven't caught it.

At one time, using "cpanel" a product of the server I am using I did see one of my files in an unexpected place but could never get back to it. That tells me my complete setup will infact ftp and that it's a software and not hardware problem?

Thanks again Steve.

Steve, I think I"m getting somewhere.

IF in LightRoom5 you enter your username and password where called for in the top of their menu, you do not have to enter it into the path. If you do not enter where called for you are free to enter it into the path. I have been doing both and that is creating other directory s on the server making it harder to find my files (not to mention giving away my username and password !!)

I am still not running but feel I'm getting much closer to a resolve. Thanks again for your kind offer the other day but I may not need it in a day or two !

The above post still stands but I have more progress to report.

When using LR5 to ftp web content, the menu ask for "full path" when what I really have to put in there is "public_html/album". You do not have to put in the full path because if you do it will recreate or duplicate all new folders on your website.

Then in light room it ask you what subfolder you want the 3 files that make up the web gallery in and you type the name such as "portraits". Then, when you go looking for your images they will be in the "album" folder and located as "portrait" file. Even though it's in the full path as they mention, You have to think of "public_html" as a portal and not a file.

Hope this helps someone. I'm not a whiz at this but if I can help you I'll give it a try if you need.

One last point. If you use Frontpage Extensions (Microsoft Expressions) you are supposed to use "http://www.mywebsite.com" and not just http://www.mywebsite.com. This is so if you have to make changes later to the gallery, the new changes will post and not just be ignored.

This ftp process isn't for the faint of heart. You may need a little tenacity to get through it because all companies involved use a little different nomenclature on titles so it's confusing.
