kb7001 Posted June 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) What is the covering of the MP body? Anyway a slight bump/bubble (?) in this material developed right next to the battery compartment. I pushed it back down with my thumb as best I could. There are other places where the stuff meets the metal that don't look quite right -- not attached correctly or something. It seems ever so slightly raised above the metal in those places. Are problems with the covering common and can it be repaired or replaced easily?
Advertisement Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Hi kb7001, Take a look here MP covering. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Gerard Posted June 25, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 25, 2013 Sounds like an adhesive failure (or poor surface prep prior to installation). An easy job to replace. Contact your Leica dealer or go DIY (there are many replacement options out there).
kb7001 Posted June 26, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted June 26, 2013 I just heard from the dealer--he said Leica sometimes does a poor gluing job. Leica will fix it for free. Of course it will cost me something to ship the camera I would expect.
M9reno Posted June 26, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2013 Leica sometimes does a poor gluing job. Understandable - the fumes get to Leica every now and then.

andybarton Posted June 28, 2013 Share #7 Posted June 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) In which case you should speak with Leica in Solms directly about how to have the camera sent to them. Is it under warranty?
kb7001 Posted June 28, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted June 28, 2013 Yes, it is under warranty. Why can't the repair place in NJ do this work?
andybarton Posted June 28, 2013 Share #9 Posted June 28, 2013 Maybe they can. Phone them and ask them. I expect they will send a UPS carrier box for you to send it back to them.
