lepremier Posted April 6, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been trying to get a 35mm 1.4 Summilux lens for a few weeks now and although it has been ordered by my local agent it seems to be "out of stock". I have just seen from a Leica home page that this is one of the lenses that has gone up in price since the first of March...and by a fair bit. It seems that Leica are cashing in on the popularity of the new M8!! If the lens was ordered before the increase was announced is it somewhat naive to assume that it will be at the old price? Advertisement Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Hi lepremier, Take a look here Leica Lens Prices Increased. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted April 6, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 6, 2007 Peter-- That's really several questions in one: Â 1) Did your dealer place the order with his supplier before the price-change date? Will he honor the old price if he receives it at the old price? Â 2) Did your supplier/distributor place the order with Solms before the price-change date? Will they honor the old price if he receives it at the old price? Â 3) Did Solms receive the order before the price-change date? Will Solms honor the old price if they received the order before the price-change date? Â Previously, Solms would honor the old price for orders received before the price-change date. I assume that is still the case, but I don't know. Â Good luck! Â --HC

Price increases might be needed to compensate for the considerable appreciation of the Euro against a number of other currencies, incl and escpecially also the USD (did not check in what direction the Singapore $ moved). More price increases of Euroland Products in the USA have to be expected, considering the weak and further weakening USD. I seems to be obvious that the M8 allows Leica to grow their business, but doubt that price increases are solely to cash in big time.
