echorec Posted April 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have both screw mount and M cameras and I am looking at the new 50mm screw mount Summicron 50mm. Are there any drawbacks or anything "not quite as good" with using that lens on an M body with an adapter compared to using the current standard M version of that lens? Thanks. harmsr Posted April 6, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 6, 2007 None. With the adaptor, it is the same as the M mount lens. Best, Ray
echorec Posted April 6, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted April 6, 2007 Thanks for the advice Ray! Just bought one off German ebay. Looking forward to use it.
Guest hagen Posted April 6, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 6, 2007 There is only one small difference to the current M version. You can only focus to 1m instead of 0,7 on the M version. The optics are the same.
echorec Posted April 6, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted April 6, 2007 Very nice picture Wolfgang! That must be the ultimate combo in the LTM world! I have only a IIIa and IIIc myself.
echorec Posted April 6, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted April 6, 2007 By the way, how large is the finder view in the IIIg? Somewhere in between the early screwmounts and the M3? Is it a really big difference compared to my IIIa and c?

I have only a IIIa and IIIc myself. Its a really good combo but even the Elmar from 1938 gives very good results on a new M8.

Is it a really big difference compared to my IIIa and c? Unfortunately I have no possibility to compare the IIIg with other screwmounts but Its easy to work with. The fiewfinder of an M is much better.
