35mmSummicron Posted April 5, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 5, 2007 to get a "neutral grey" you typically want to click on an area between 120-180 this obviously depends on the lighting, and is usually the 3rd gray patch on the larger GMB chart. Â an abosolute neutral gray reading in photoshop is 128, 128, 128 Â as long as you zero the RGB chanels so they are the same you will get a neutral light source, the reason you want to get within these values is so you don't clip anything (easy to do in the highlight/shadow areas, which is why it isnt always good to WB off a whitecard).
