I know the X Vario is just out and all that, but in case you are already thinking of the next X model, may I suggest the following:

an X Monochrom the size of the X Vario (not the X2), with a 50mm f2.5 fixed lens (not extending upon power on), and built-in film modes emulating Tri-X, T-Max and Pan films.

I'll buy two of them, I promise. Along with one X Vario to cover all my photographic bases.:D

It needs a built in viewfinder and a 35 mm lens rather than a 50 for me

Please , and I'll buy one too

Not sure about the X-Vario but if you hold the play button down as you turn on the camera the lens will remain retracted.

Works on the X1 and I guess the X2.

HTH

Really? I didn't know that. Can you still use the camera with the lens like that?

Dear Leica, with a tip of the hat to Ruhayat, if you build him his dream niche X-camera, then please also build me my personal dream niche X-camera:

A "Leica X-Pan" the size of the X Vario with a 21mm (equiv) ƒ3.4 Super-Elmar fixed lens, a 24MP sensor with multiple aspect ratios (16:9 to 1:1 like the D-Lux 6), a time-lapse intervalometer and built-in film modes emulating Kodachrome 25 and Velvia 50. This would be my ultimate compact camera for landscape and travel.

Or better yet, build us all an X the same size as the X Vario body, but with built-in EVF of same quality as Olympus VF-4, IBIS, and interchangeable mount with adaptors for my R lenses and for M. That would cover all MY photographic bases. :D

Now if they made it with a dual focal length lens (a la Konica 21/35mm M), e.g. 28 and 50mm e I`d buy this as well. Though f2.5 might be a challenge then.;)
