In their answers to Guy's questions, Leica had this to say regarding sensor cleaning:

"Professional DSLR cleaning kits from 3rd parties can be used. We recommend Iso-Propanol based systems. In general it should be tried first to remove the dirt with a dry cleaning method." (See M8 Questions Posted in the Leica User Forum, Leica Camera AG - Downloads)

So in order as required:

1) Blow it out with a rocket or equivalent (may repeat afte each step below a/r

2) Brush it off with an arctic butterfly or equivalent may repeat after 3 a/r

3) Sponge it down with a paddle (such as a sensorswab) and isopropyl alcohol.

This is my new SOP

I didnt think you would blow anything into a camera. Wouldnt you use one of those compressed air ventury effect vacuums? Guess I am just lucky I dont have to do it.

A light blowing is less invasive than a brush or a swab.

sometimes it works well enough and avoids the more invasive steps.

I use a rocket blower (a rubber bulb blower) with a bit of pecpad attached over the air inlet valve to act as a filter.

cheap and it works tolerably well
