Jamie Roberts Posted April 5, 2007 Share #21  Posted April 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Erl, a quick fix is the free trial of Lightroom, which is a damn sight easier to use than C1 anyway though some feel the results to be marginally less good. {Snipped} Tim  At this point, I actually think the results from Lightroom are a lot worse--in terms of saturation and colour, noise and shadow detail--but that's to be expected in a V1 product.  And once you get used to C1's way of doing things, it's really not that hard to use. In fact, there are a couple of gotchas in Lightroom that would prevent me from using it at all--mainly the fact that I can't tell Lightroom where to put it's temp files--not exactly good ease-of-use from a system perspective   @ ERL: you know there's a "sort by capture date" and "sort by capture name" under "Change Thumbnail Sort Order" toolbar icon, right? It does reverse order too...
Advertisement Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Hi Jamie Roberts, Take a look here C1 serious problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Venkman Posted April 5, 2007 Share #22 Â Posted April 5, 2007 I put the SD card in a reader which brings up the C1 media reader. I enter a folder name in the place provided and check the 'rename captures' option. that allows me to enter my system default numbering which is the date in reverse, to allow future searches. eg. 070405 -. The software then adds a number fom 1 to whatever for each frame. Problem is they are not numbered in order of capture. Â Ah, that explains the difference - I use the camera numeration exclusively and name the files after postproduction.
erl Posted April 6, 2007 Author Share #23 Â Posted April 6, 2007 O.K. The Leica Forum 'guru's' triumph again! Between all of you I think I have been re-educated to a more sensible approach to moving files from the card to my computer. I have been trying to be (too) smart and do several things in one action. Sounds good, but only if it works eh. Â By directing C1 to dowload AND rename my files all at the same time seems to sometimes 'choke' the system. I have tried the suggested options of 'sort by name', 'sort by date', etc but that does not sort by 'time' apparently. Â Now I will adopt the simple and straightforward method that Jamie, Guy and Dirk suggested. Turn off C1 before downloading. Dump SD card folder to desktop, or somewhere convenient. Rename. Open C1. Â Couple of extra steps, but it has to work. That's the difference. Â The people on this Forum work wonders, and fast. I remember in 'the old days', you had to get in your car, go into town, find a service person and explain your problem and wait while they went somewhere to take it to the next level. Days later you may have a solutuion. But here, you post a problem, go to bed and the get up and the answer is waiting. Â Free beers all round on me. 35mmSummicron Posted April 6, 2007 Share #24 Â Posted April 6, 2007 you can set C1 Pro to download without filename changes by unchecking "rename captures" when the download dialog comes up. this is the same as drag and drop in Finder. Â from my experiences, even with C1 renaming the captures, it does so in a chronological order....sorry you're having difficulties. Â /a
