thpeters Posted April 5, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 5, 2007 Hi Paul, The first 2 pictures looks not sharp, or out of focus to me, where the pictures taken with camera on a tripod? Theo
paul chiu Posted April 5, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted April 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) i have no idea how to set profile or color balance yet as i find the manual even harder to understand than the japanese makers. all the above are indoors under mixed lighting. i have really not shot without monopod for years so the steadiness at 1.4 and 2.0 was ok in my opinion. i look to take more in dc as i am driving down tomorrow. shots at 5.6 to 8.0 with faster syncs! i noticed that after 30 test shots, my lcd screen, the front viewfinder glass and even the middle ev sensor got my greasy fingerprints all over them. this is not my experience with the nikon d2x. i think i have got to get some hand grip or something after 6 years with monster sized d-slrs. paul
paul chiu Posted April 5, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted April 5, 2007 Hi Paul, The second test card with the 90/2.0 looks not sharp or out of focus to me, was the picture taken with camera on a tripod? Theo sorry theo for scaring you guys, as i posted afterwards indicating no legs. i wanted to test how solid the camera was at handheld levels i got to admit the results at 1.4 and 2.0 was already better than my nikon d2x handheld. paul
paul chiu Posted April 5, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted April 5, 2007 btw, the firmware i have is 1.09, is this current as of 2007-04-04?
ho_co Posted April 5, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 5, 2007 Paul-- Nice looking model there. And seems patient as well! What a brilliant idea to use an optical letter chart as a test pattern! That would never have occurred to me! As to firmware, there has been an update to 1.092. You can download it at the Leica web site Leica Camera AG - LEICA M8 Firmware version 1.092 available. --HC

ho_co Posted April 5, 2007 Share #12 Posted April 5, 2007 Well, he looks calm and comfy, so you probably have pretty good technique. I got tired of the AF getting it almost right, and really prefer working with manual focus. OTOH, I do miss image stabilization. --HC
