albertknappmd Posted April 5, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have noticed on a few occasions that when I change batteries (and yes the camera is turned off ! :D ,) the LCD and the smaller instrument LCD panel both are turned on and stay on when the new battery is inserted. The camera, as I stated before, is still on OFF. The DMR works very well otherwise. Can anyone explain this quirk ? I am loathe to send it in to Leica but is it serious ? Advertisement Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Hi albertknappmd, Take a look here DMR electrical question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted April 5, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 5, 2007 Albert: Â They all do that. I think it is related to the state of charge when you change the battery. I just hold the off button on the DMR back until it turns off, then it is in sync again with the on/off switch of rhe camera.
psquared Posted April 5, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 5, 2007 I've been just living with the electronic gremlins, just what you describe plus several others. Some others are: the camera just dying with the R9 working but not the DMR; just the opposite where you turn the R9 off and the DMR is still on; getting a snowstorm on playback and zooming; etc. I asked NJ to check the DMR while they had it for the infamous combination dial falling off episode. They said that these never happened when they had the DMR ... just like when you take your car into the shop.
albertknappmd Posted April 5, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted April 5, 2007 Thanks for your [prompt and illuminating responses. Quite frankly, I am amazed that such a high quality camera ( ) would be so prone to glitches. Well the product is beautiful and we must simply suffer through this nonsense.... I view the DMR now as a simple bridge to the promised land of the R10. I will just get used to the glitches and other assorted nonsense hoping that the R10 will be as big a hit as the M8. BTW, I am really enjoying my M8 and it is light years ahead of the DMR in my opinion. The M8 is a real joy to handle....
