What a nice feeling. You have a lot of restraint to snap photos of the box opening. It's a great box, too.

yeah, since you can only handle and examine for nits and imperfections when the battery is charging...

feels pretty tight, heavy and only one tiny silver spot under the viewfinder glass window, so far.

seems like the same thing i got with my m6j a deacde ago and one m3.

i think leica needs to get better "clean rooms"

as for the size vs. m6, they seem to be exactly the same weight in my hands.

yes, another 2 hours i'll be using this!

Such self control.

I managed, barely, not to rip the box (in case I had a major defect).

Enjoy your M8! Your going to be busy taking pictures.

Go over to the photo section and let us see some results.

cheers

Congrats. Mine didn't come with the sensor cleaning warning decal on the body cap???

yes, but i bet yours didn't have a little spec/dust under the viewfinder glass either...

don't worry about the sticker, they probably forgot

Paul,

do you have problems taking off or putting in the hood on the Summilux 35mm ASPH. I find it near impossible !!!

rosuna,

it would never snap in one direction, but when i rotate it 180 degrees, it snaps in.

Damned good box, so I'm told.

yes, it is but i prefer the heavy white boxes pre-2000 more

also, because of "green", there are many more corrugated un-waxed cardboards inside, which sheds and displace dust and other microscopic debris that will attack out lens and m8 sensors.

i tried to wip with clean 100% cotton towel all surfaces near the m8 as still another hour before lift off!

I think the answer is not to squeeze it too hard when trying to mount it. It distorts the plastic and then it's too tight a fit. I've had to learn :D since I use the same hood on the 28mm Summicron with the M8.

Bob,

That's what that bitch in 'Vegas told me too. I'm walking pretty normally now but the cold weather doesn't help.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but you are turning the knurled ring at the base of the hood to unlock it before trying to remove the hood? The 35 Lux hood seems to be unique in this regard and took me a little while to figure out when I first got mine.

I had trouble also in the store when I was looking at this lens. I found that if I just jiggle it after an unsuccessful attempt, it then moves a bit further and goes on. It is meant to loosen up with time.
