Doc Henry Posted August 16, 2016 Author Share #19962 Posted August 16, 2016 Barn with red door. Pentax ME Super Potra400. Tony.OgdeP400621713-33-01-1280x858.jpeg I like this picture for the softness of the green color and also the softness of the red of the house. Very nice composition with the tree at right. Doc Henry Posted August 16, 2016 Author Share #19963 Posted August 16, 2016 Philip, I'm a professor of modern Chinese history. My research is on Chiang Kaishek's Nationalist regime during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-45). Chongqing (Chungking in contemporary English sources) was the temporary capital after 1939, so many of the records for this period are still in the Chongqing Municipal Archives. Huge, vast oceans of documents, most never seen by anyone except the people who wrote them, received them, and filed them. The trip in 2014 was to use the Chongqing Municipal Library, however, because it has an enormous collection of printed materials (the Roosevelt Library is housed there). It was closed (to move into a brand new building) when I did my major archival work in 2006-07. So I had to go back. Managed to cram in a nice jaunt to Emeishan (Mt. Emei) and Chengdu with a good friend. Photos are from that mini-trip. Kevin congrats for your exciting work. Great series of nice b&w pictures Thanks Henry

Doc Henry Posted August 16, 2016 Author Share #19968 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) A point of historical interest in this photo (and I don't mean my daughter in the zorb thing). The fields in the distance on Afton Down (more specifically those to the right of the telegraph pole) were the site of the legendary 1970 Isle of Wight festival where an estimated 600,000 people saw Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors and many many other great names take to the stage in various states of intoxication – an event which now seems to be one of those key markers that signalled the end of the 1960s (Hendrix himself was to die only 3 weeks later). Ian ,very nice green and your picture has something mysterious , may be because of the lady who pushes the ballon in this great space Thanks for posting I think it's Kodak film ? Best H. Doc Henry Posted August 16, 2016 Author Share #19970 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Lately I've been shooting medium format, would you like to see? Niky.jpg Ilford HP5 - Spur HRX - Scan of the print. Sorry for the late comment Charles Ah, Ilford HP5 a great film Wonderful portrait I like much . Cannot forget this smile ! An artistic picture in the true sense of the term. A picture "with a soul" as said a famous photographer Soft lines of the face and the arm , not cutting like in digital. Soft facial skin with pores skin visible (no smoothing px , plasticised aspect),it's important IMO Best H. KevinL Posted August 16, 2016 Share #19972 Posted August 16, 2016 Kevin first thanks for posting. I agree with Philip this last picture is wonderful in b&w tonality, exposure I see with only the Nokton and HP5 one of my favorite films Good work you did in Sichouan Nice series in b&w. The guy (picture 1) seems really glad to be a champion Rg Henry Kevin congrats for your exciting work. Great series of nice b&w pictures Thanks Henry Thanks, Doc! I really like HP5+ too. It has a mid-range that I really like. At least at EI250 and souped in Xtol it's done that for me many times. I think the old man in the teashop was amused that I wanted his picture. He didn't say a word (probably because he thought I wouldn't understand -- and perhaps he was right: I can speak Mandarin, but the Chongqing dialect is still very hard for me). Just sat there as I snapped four or five frames. Then I went back to drinking tea with my friends and talking with the proprietor and his 7 year old daughter. Was a good afternoon, despite the 43-44 Celsius temperature.

Guest Posted August 16, 2016 Share #19974 Posted August 16, 2016 Several times I've tried to develop this Kodachrome slide for screen presentation by different softwares. Up to now Photoshop and HDR Efex seem to work better than earlier attempts. But I would like to get rid off this still slightly gray haze. ・ Leica M6 ・ Super Angulon 4.0-21mm ・ Kodachrome KL200 ・ Nikon Coolscan ・ Vuescan ・ Welcome, dear visitor! If you have Light Room go to " development" and adjust the "temperature" and by adjusting the blue veil can disappear or is attenuated Kodachrome is a very nice slide film IMO one of the best Thanks for posting Best Henry

I base myself on the "stone" of the Senate building at the bottom , the "red flag" and the skin of demonstrators. The light blue cast is removed. What do you think ? Welcome, dear visitor!
