j_mart12 Posted November 2, 2014 Share #1942 Posted November 2, 2014 I see we have some here who appreciate Portra. Well, me too! Probably my favorite color film. A few made recently at about 12,000 ft in the Rocky Mountains. . . Leica IIIf, early '50's coated Summitar 50mm, Portra 160 Martin
j_mart12 Posted November 2, 2014 Share #1943 Posted November 2, 2014 And, while we are in the mountains… A few made the same day, these with the Telyt 200 and Visoflex. In this particular case I believe the lab actually did not develop this roll correctly. The film is grainier than normal and the colors have shifted a bit. Anyway, I still like the results… . . M4, Visoflex III + OUBIO, 1960 Telyt 200, UV filter, Portra 160 Martin

j_mart12 Posted November 3, 2014 Share #1956 Posted November 3, 2014 Not Portra this time… here's Velvia 50. An artifact of the processing, quite noticeable with certain color transitions, is the dark outlining seen here at the edges of the flower petals. Giving a somewhat surreal effect… completely free of any digital manipulation. Just another reason I like film… M4, 1959 Summicron 90, Velvia 50
j_mart12 Posted November 3, 2014 Share #1957 Posted November 3, 2014 One more from the same batch as the rose shot… with Velvia 50 slide film. Velvia 50 has a really short tonal range so it can be quite inappropriate for many scenes. In this case, it happened to work in my favor. The white, blown-out columns in direct sun light provide a better backdrop for the form of the juggler and his airborne club.
