Both were nice, both could pass to the uninitiated as a perfect picture. I don't get too excited about the argument, as to me there is little to argue about. I use and love both. Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted May 23, 2016 Share #15933 Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) Well that didn't last long. Now all of a sudden all my scans have this vertical line running right down the frigging middle of my scans. Its not the negs they are clean and free from scratches. I Have just contacted Plustek via there online web form and I will see what they have to say. Problem is I am flying back to the rig tonight and won't be back on KL for 3 months......................Digital is starting to look frigging good again :( :( Welcome, dear visitor! Problem is I am flying back to the rig tonight and won't be back on KL for 3 months......................Digital is starting to look frigging good again :( :( Two possibilities: either you have a speck of dust on your sensor in the scanner (if a CCD it will make a line rather than a spot), or you have a dead pixel in the sensor. Time for an X5 (just joking! When they go wrong you will learn new heights of misery related to shipping and US customs.) Chris
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted May 23, 2016 Share #15937 Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) Its really doing my head in now. The first picture was scanned with Silverfish notice there is NO line down the middle of the scan. Silverfast Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! The second scan of the same picture was done with Vuescan and there is this vertical line running down the middle of the picture. Vuescan The problem is, I guess the simple way to fix it is to kiss the $90 bucks goodby that I spent on the vuescan software last night and just scan with Silverfast, but when you compare the two scans the vuescan scan is a 100 times better quality the the silverfish scan except for the big f%^k off line running through the middle. Any suggestions???? So I have just scanned 135 and guess what no frigging vertical line, so my thinking is is that there is an issue with the vuescan software........ maybe time to reinstall that and see what happens. gbealnz Posted May 23, 2016 Share #15938 Posted May 23, 2016 Hmmmm, then if it is just the M/F, and Vuescan, perhaps ask Ed Hammrick of Vuescan. But after you uninstall, and reinstall the software perhaps. Gary
chrism Posted May 23, 2016 Share #15939 Posted May 23, 2016 If you can still scan 6x6 with Silverfast I will have to take back the suggestion it is a problem with the sensor. Try that first, and if it works OK then there is an issue with some setting in Vuescan. In which case you send a copy of the scan to Ed Hamrick (support@hamrick.com) and in my experience the man himself will reply very quickly. erl Posted May 23, 2016 Share #15940 Posted May 23, 2016 Just to add to your woes Neil, your scans are mostly a little flat. When using VueScan (properly) you must adjust BP and WP after scanning. Also the scans above have a distinct blue cast and some cyan cast. ie. they need a little warming up, but first fix that line in the scan. Easy starting point is reinstall the latest ver. of VueScan. Than can often fix multiple problems. If not successful, send the scans to Ed Hamrick (of VueScan) for assessment.
