My NYC lab - one of the largest and well-regarded in NYC - just dropped a bomb on me today and advised me that they will stop completely stop E-6 processing next month. My heart is broken and I now need to shift labs... Can you give me the details of the E-6 kit that you are using? I know you mentioned it before but good luck with me finding it!

Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted May 20, 2016 Share #15702 Posted May 20, 2016 Neil - For what it worth, I had a bad experience at Heathrow yesterday. They wouldn't hand check my film in the security checkpoint. I insisted on speaking to a manager and finally got them to agree to hand check my exposed rolls. But for unexposed rolls they would only hand check if the ISO was 3200 or over. Funny thing was that they didn't even know what 3200 ISO meant, and thought that the label "120" on my MF roll meant it was 120 ISO. I hassled them just enough to at least get the 6 exposed tools hand checked. And it took a good 15 minutes away from my "lounging" I never had this problem at any other airport, including JFK, La Guardia in NY, Miami International and Ben Gurion in Tel Aviv. People seem really on edge these days.... Its a people thing mate........my experience with security at UK airports is like they have a law of there own and if you catch them in one of there moments its ..........were going to f$%$ with you day.

It is the kit sold by argentix.ca, which I think is just re-badged Arista. You can get it through Freestyle here, or B&H here. Chris

gbealnz Posted May 20, 2016 Share #15707 Posted May 20, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could be Neil. There is what looks like flare middle of the frame, and into the sun it would be reasonable to say this was flare. Vertical streaks top against the sky (where they are easier to see obviously) could be marks from squeegying yes. I always used to run the wet film through my fingers, but I know a lot suggest otherwise. What do the adjoining negs look like, are these lines all the way throughout?Gary
A miller Posted May 20, 2016 Share #15708 Posted May 20, 2016 Lens flare or light leak......watermarks/streaks everywhere. Could I possibly be squigging to much ???/ looks to me like water residue, which can be removed with a proper cleaning of the neg.

erl Posted May 21, 2016 Share #15710 Posted May 21, 2016 The pentagonal light spot in centre is flare, shaped by the diaphragm blades. Smaller aperture would help but probably not eliminate. The streaky lines are from squeegeeing. If the marks are only water residue, rewash carefully and dry carefully to remove. If scratched from over enthusiastic squeegeeing, there is no cure. As an alternative to squeegeeing, which I gave up years ago, try firmly gripping each end of the film an 'snapping' it several times to use inertia to flick the water off. Also, use a rinse aid in final wash to accelerate drying and inhibit streaking by reducing the surface tension of the water.
EoinC Posted May 21, 2016 Share #15711 Posted May 21, 2016 Yes Ian I agree but it depends sometimes of your shots ,angle of light etc... The general aspect is different versus in example TX ... Eoin or Trev ( I don't remmeber) also noticed that On these three pictures you posted it's similar to film TX IMO Lovely girl in the beautiful nature well reproduced by film Best Henry Yes, I think it's a film that I don't fully understand. Sometimes it can can have bite, and other times it seems quite plasticky / waxy. I haven't worked out which and when. c041 by Eoin Christie, on Flickr c042 by Eoin Christie, on Flickr
