Walking along the Rhone in Lyon one weekend not so long ago, the

sweet sound of music captured my, and other people's attention.

A group of German youths were musically welcoming spring.

I hope I managed to capture a bit of that magic in the picture below.

I took another crack I took at this scene.

This time to get more headroom I bought a 12 foot (4ish meter) ladder from the local hardware store and stuck it into the back of my Smartcar (with about 1/3 sticking out of the back) and transported it to this location.

This view is from the top of the ladder.  Not as dramatic as I thought might be the case but headroom I nevertheless got :)

I like the juxtaposition of the "wing-like" building with the tower in the background. Really cleverly done Steve. Plus I like the shine of all the specular highlights.

and another .....

Yes, another reflection! Very well executed at just the right moment.

Resistance is futile, everybody :)

Both with HP5+. Pakon F135 scans.

I now have a 2nd M7 on its way to me :) and my M9 will be departing, not using it enough to warrant keeping it.

As such, I have a complete BEOON set that I'll no longer need if anyone should be interested..

I think this is the best rendition yet of your attempts, Adam. Congratulations. I had the same reaction as Christoph regarding the sky. In colour (which I generally prefer), I might have tried to shoot it just at the beginning of dusk to get a nice deep blue. That could contrast well with the colourful lines from the cars and would also make the statue stand out strongly. Just an idea.

What lack of sharpness? This is great, a very nice portrait. You should also encourage your girlfriend to post here in this thread :)

My GF at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Used her camera, a Nikon FE2 w/ 50mm 1.4, loaded with Pro400H. Wish the lens was sharper, but it makes the skin look great shot wide open!

Nice one Christoph. I'm intrigued by the very saturated colours of this film. It almost looks like Velvia 50 pushed 1 stop.

Thanks, Philip. I indeed shot this at dusk, with the hope of executing on the same vision that you articulated. Unfortunately, the clouds invaded my dusk! It was only supposed to be partly cloudy. I think i may have an actionable claim against my weather man :)

Nice, Steve - The colours are alive!

EoinC -- Thanks for the comments. I am really seeing why so many people rave about MF. Last time I used 120 film was Kodak Verichrome Pan (B&W for those too young to remember) in my Kodak Brownie Fiesta. I still have the camera, might give it whirl just to see what comes out.

Adam,

Nice to see you "massaging" a scene over a period of time.

The ladder, angle of view and long exposure work fine for me.

The sky though is a bit featureless ...

thanks, Christoph.  I have indeed been asking myself whether features in the sky are a "must have" or merely a "nice to have" ...

If a feature full sky is a "must have" for every photo, many would not seen.  The sky in Adam's photo represents a small fraction of frame, which in my opinion has no material impact to the photo.  In fact, I see the featureless sky being used as a natural portrait style background to the central figure in the frame and makes the statue stand out with little distraction.

What one does to capture a photo..lol. The long exposure creates a fantastic effect to the scene.
