gsgary Posted March 22, 2016 Share #12782 Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Eoin, I'm amazed how few of the people in your shots are ever looking at the camera. Here in The Hague I often get evil stares (or even security guards coming up to me)... These b&w conversions are very nice. I didn't know Ektar lends itself so well to being converted. Are you doing anything more than just desaturating in Photoshop? br Philip A good way to convert to B+W in photoshop is Click image, adjustments,Channel Mixer Click monochrome, in red channel input 28, in green 8, in blue 64 Then add a slight curves adjustment slide film with above settings and with extra unsharp mask, amount 35 Radius 70 threshold 0 Edited March 22, 2016 by gsgary

philipus Posted March 22, 2016 Share #12785 Posted March 22, 2016 Thanks very much for the explanation, that's an interesting way which I'll have to play around with. I also often use USM in this "inverted" way with a very large radius and a low amount to increase contrast. It's very effective on certain scans. And it can be used together with the "normal" (if that's a correct description) USM of a high amount and small radius, which tends to make the grain crispier. I'm using the USM to add contrast

derphilipp Posted March 23, 2016 Share #12795 Posted March 23, 2016 Two snapshots from a road-/surftrip last year along the french atlantic coast.
