philipus Posted February 24, 2016 Share #11823 Posted February 24, 2016 Very nice Adam. I have the 2,8cm Hektor, with "widest" aperture at f6.3. Guest Benqui Posted February 24, 2016 Share #11828 Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) very lovely, Marc. I have a Kasha carpet in my living room. My grandfather (and his brothers) used to warehouse them in Baghdad, where he ran the customs agency (long ago in a different world...) Very funny Adam, we have also an old Iranian carpet which my grandfather bought in the 60s when he visited Teheran (and when my grandmother was out of earshot, he told me that he never saw so some many beautiful women as in Teheran). Life can be strange best regards Marc Edited February 24, 2016 by Benqui

A miller Posted February 24, 2016 Share #11833 Posted February 24, 2016 Very nice Adam. I have the 2,8cm Hektor, with "widest" aperture at f6.3. A great street photo lens in good light (but not for much else which is why I'm considering another lens in this focal length). Inspired by your picture, here's another foggy platform photo. Flickr 50/1.4A Velvia 100 Well, if one is like I am, then one would say you nailed this photo, Henry Here's one I took not long ago. Flickr 50/2 v3 Superia 400 Interest, Philip. That f6.3 lens is, I think, older than the 5.6 summaron. The lenses are really made to be stopped down quite a bit. Otherwise, there is very meaningful fall off, which is perectly normal for wide angle lenses. The general rule of thumb for a typical WA lens (even with large format) is that you need to stop down at least THREE stops from the widest aperture to prevent vingetting/fall off. So with your 6.3 it would be at least f16 and with my 5.6 it would be at least f11. For landscapes this is REALLY important as the fall off (which probably isn't the right term) doesn't just affect the brightness of the edges but also the sharpness to a meaningful extent. So using these lenses for landscapes at anything less than f16 and f11 (resepctively) is really not going to deliver good results. For shots in the street and of people in general in which there is a select focal point or subject, the wider apertures aren't as problematic and can even be used to the advantage of the photographer. How is your 6.3 with sun flare? As stellar as the summaron? Ah love love it crazy ! Red is for Adam Paris Jan 2016 Kodak Portra 160 (dev home lab Tetenal 30°C 8 mns) Leica M7 - 35 Summilux Asph Image10seinpariskp160m7feclfht+++1000.jpg Best Henry PS: picture uncorrected not like in digital Hi Henry - Lovely and I agree about the WB. Perhaps it was a cloudy and damp day and there was some color shift a a result of the color temperatures being out of balance? The way it is is fine but it is just giving a more old fashioned look. Not only do you poke your camera in people's faces you also set a bright light off as well !! Something I could never do. Though the temporary blindness would help aid my escape ... Another good series rich in colour and expression. I believe only in New York could you get away with wearing a jacket like the gentleman in your first photo. Thanks, David. Far from being a psychologist, I am convinced that extreme temperatures put people in a mood that is more condusive to being photographed in this explicit way. Just my experience with doing it with and without the extreme temperatures. As for the guy with the fur coat, he was actually handing out pamphlets advertising fur coats and I guess he got a freebie. It (along with some of the others) possess a certain sense of fashion/culture that I believe will age well and increase in interest over time. Adam I like the scene in this nice picture , a scene of everyday life In addition nice color of Fuji Pro . I see you often use this 28 Summaron Best Henry H Henry - Thanks and yes, I have ben using the summaron more this winter b/c of its rendition of sun glare and silhouettes, which I have been shooting a lot of. Once the special light goes away it will be back to the elmarit pre-asph.

When I developed a film a few days ago, I accidentally opened the lid of my development tank too early, after pooring out the developer. I immediately closed the lid again, and poured the fixer in. Luckily it seems that the develop silver is not so sensitive to light once it is developed. I still need to scan the results, but the negatives look ok... Keith - welcome to the 6x9 club!! Convenience aside, when it comes to making the best landscape photograph that you can, bigger is definitely better and 6x9 is plenty big for most situations.
