RoiDuNord Posted December 22, 2015 Share #8841 Posted December 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) the second one is a bomb. I think it could be dodged and burned a little, particularly to enhance the highlights and contrast. But it is truly classic.. All my Kodachrome, are straight scans.. chrism Posted December 22, 2015 Share #8842 Posted December 22, 2015 I prefer the darker eyes of the first version, but either way it is a great photo!

A miller Posted December 22, 2015 Share #8844 Posted December 22, 2015 Marc - The first is my clear favorite. If you are going to have shadows you might as well use it to enhance the contrast. The second seems to be lacking some contrast. I also like the way her eyes look in the first... The second version doesn't draw her eyes in the most becoming way, at least to me...

My understanding of this is that the color space in your PS (probably Pro Photo RGB) is better than what your monitor sees on the web... Thanks for your comment. Best Henry On my end, I think the issue might be with how Internet Explorer manages color. Some browsers do that better than others. However, since the web's color standard is sRGB, I always make sure to save that profile for any image that will be used for internet, and email. Some browsers do have issues (because they may not be color managed) with images that are not tagged with a certain color profile (such as sRGB.) Here, I'm trying to display differences I see with a few images (even if the differences do not show up on other people's monitors,) I've saved from this forum, and opened them up in Photoshop. Then, taking a screen shot; I've managed to save an example on how the image looks in Photoshop (on the left,) and how it looks from the browser (on the right.) Regardless of the image's original color space, if set correctly, Photoshop will display the colors correctly (even if there's some missing colors from a wider color profile,) for the color space my monitor is set at.

thebarnman Posted December 23, 2015 Share #8858 Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) With this image below, all I did was save it with the sRGB profile. I posted this one separately because the difference is not as great when they are saved together (including the images above.) For a comparison of this image, you may have to go back to the original post to see if there is anything dramatically different about it (such as the reds.) http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/205842-i-like-filmopen-thread/page-433?do=findComment&comment=2950875 At the end of the day, there are some images that also do not have a color profile, and yet when I compare the differences, there is no difference. That may have to do with how a certain program saves images. Furthermore, there are no differences on how the images look when it does have the sRGB color profile (when I compare it to how it looks in Photoshop.) Some browsers are better at color management than others. Bottom line, when possible; it might be best to save images for web (and email) with the sRGB profile. And of course, a better color space (Adobe 98/Pro RGB) is preferable if the image is going to be printed.
