Bloomsbury from Centerpoint tower.  Notable landmarks (from left):  Senate House, University of London; Russell Square and hotel; British Museum with former British Library round reading room.  Leica M2, collapsible Summicron 50, Fujicolor 100, Nikon Coolscan.  Colour cast caused by tinted windows in the tower.

Rog, very dark. The  expressionistic shadows  projected into the fog enforce the question: Is this the jetty of Dr. Caligaris asylum ?

Robert Wiene's landmark film is certainly a starter with its expressionistic set design and the Somnambulist's make-up. Flashback to Meidner, Dix, Grosz, Feininger, Nolde, Kandinsky, Kollwitz, Beckmann, and on, and on. The "expressionistic shadows" is double exposure; the first is out of focus, and the second is in focus--handheld. I am sure there must be Dr. Caligari Cabinet coffee houses. How about Kafka Kafe?

Still in France, this exquisite little town was just down the road from us so I was able to visit it over a period of time under differing conditions:

I am glad the Photo Morgue is alive and well. These "empty cityscapes" are filled with narrative. This last diptych Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet is particulary cinematic, perhaps a location that Bresson would consider. The arc from summer sunlit clouds to winter storm cumulus frames the narrative. Really notable work.
