So that Wayne's fabulous Moto Guzzi doesn't feel too lonely on these pages, here is my kindred Triumph which I got halfway through the year but haven't gotten around to photographing on film until recently:

So glad to see that you are venturing into the mindset of diptych, Doc Henry.  You are right on track, since a four-part work would be called quadriptych.  These are awesome colors in this composition, but to make it a four-part work, you would have to separate the subject into four separate images.  I prefer to call any work with more than three separate images a polyptych. It is easier than following the online definition for each multi-part work.

“Specifically, a "diptych" is a two-part work of art; a "triptych" is a three-part work; a tetraptych or quadriptych has four parts; pentaptych five; hexaptych six; heptaptych (or septych in Latin) seven; and octaptych eight parts.”

Ralph Gibson goes so far as to define a joined diptych as a “tableau.”  Robert Rauschenberg’s definition of a multi-part work is “combine,”  which he innovated when he was studying with Josef Albers.  I use the term “color field construct,”  since it leaves the “field” wide open.  This way, I can construct a work with abstract color as well as identifiable image panels.

Talk about “a can of worms,” I love your moniker handle!

 cheers, Rog 🎬

(Now it is about that fifth stool that is turned upside down.)

Rog I am not  expert like you  and I am also not expert in using photo software

My lightroom is always LR2 since many years . With film I don't need it  so I don't look for new vesrion

with my old PC with XP OS.

It's another manner to show "artistic"  side ot  analog photo and you did it very well .

Thanks for your nice comment.

Best H

That is a gorgeous machine. Great photo too. Is that device covering the headlight a motorcycle version of a "roo bar?"

Best,

Wayne

It is a truly amazing photograph. I can make out features of the face of the cow in front. Great job, Phil.

So, what were you doing? Just cruising around on the Triumph, and stopped to take this? It has that feel to it.

Best

Thank you so much, Wayne. The headlight cover came with a kit I bought that I think is supposed to make it look a bit more off-roady. I doubt that it would help much if a kangaroo hopped out in front of me. actually we had a tradesman working for us recently and that happened to him one weekend when he was riding his dirt bike out in the bush somewhere. He was not a pretty sight next time he turned up for work (maybe he needed that headlight guard!). By the way those twin exhausts have since been replaced by a two-into-one Vance and Hines unit which I put through its paces today.

And you are exactly right about me stopping to take that one day as I was out riding about. I carry the camera in a pannier and sometimes actually bother to take it out and use it. This was one of those occasions when I saw the cows out of the corner of my eye as I was trundling along - they were in a field behind some scrub. I then had a mini debate with myself as to whether I'd turn round and go back in case they were still there. They were. Thank you so much for the extremely kind words.

How have you been traveling with "prego"? I imagine you'll be taking along a camera on your rides, too?

It's interesting how little details can begin to spell out a story. I was thinking that each of those bins might belong to a left-handed office worker who sits next to either of those windows and can just open the window and hurl their trash into the relevant bin. Then I noticed that you must have had some rain with a fairly strong wind that day. Thanks for the opportunity to indulge some observation-fantasy!

I like the color tones. This composition reminds me of some illustrations in the booklet of Pearl Jam's Vitalogy.
