Henry, I really like all your mountain shots. I guess not many capture shots like this on film nowadays.

James - it is always nice to have the perfect film for the scene, especially when you are on the other side of the world.  This shows that you had pre-visualized your on-location photography, which is great...

Thank you for this feedback, Adam! I guess you are right with your assessment, as I bought some rolls of Ektar just for this trip. Usually I use whatever the postman brings to my door - means: long expired films I buy at auction platforms occasionally.

Unfortunately I made a mistake in Petra, leading to a completely unexposed film. As I realized after 40-something shots, the film was not threaded  So I was glad to have my little and reliable digital companion at my side.

Just another pic from Wadi Rum:

This looks a bit frightening, as the cables are ending in thin air :o

Yes James impressive picture ! thanks for your comment

We were late May and we have planned an escalation at 3000 m but the weather changed and we had to cancel.

Low cloud, snow (it was -5 ° C at 3200m) with the risk of avalanche, fog (droplets)

very cold

All is well reproduced by the film, winter atmosphere guaranteed .... in early summer

James , really nice color and landscape

Thanks for posting James :)

It also happens to me , to forget the Isos adjustment on the MP (not on the M7 which is DX) or wondering what is  film in the camera  :o  (one Leica Forum member advised me to put a note with the type of film on the flash shoe) It is a good idea.

Usually I do the "film box end flap in the hot-shoe" thing, but either the flaps have got bigger, or the shoes smaller, as the last roll this was difficult. Perhaps I need to cut the flap a bit?

Good way to remember, especially if you are trying all manner of films.

The later cameras, and the R stuff I recall, had clear slot/windows on the back door, where you could see the actual cassette, very handy.

Film grain undeniably brings more to the images, grainy background (not smooth digital)
Atmosphere really well reproduced

Finally I do not regret to stay a few days and take pictures, it's better than good weather with sunshine
:)

It would be a pleasure to accommodate you Henry. We have a decent mountain range, runs the length of the country nearly. And sea, lots of sea, lots of it.

We'll hatch a plan over a Parisian coffee. And talk film.
