My favorite aspect of this thread is the ability to obtain numerous sounding boards and sincere constructive feedback from friends who share the same passion.

This photo is a (rare) repost of an initial draft version that I shared this past summer.  I was in love with the uber dramatic sunset and thought I had some good negatives but was convinced - largely from the (direct and indirect) feedback here - into being unsatisfied that I had really executed on my vision.  After about 7 months of toiling and running test prints on Fuji Flex high gloss photo paper (which has a slightly warm base) I think I have finally come to a resting point.  Thought I'd share it!

I think the best results I've had with this film were when I developed it in Ilfosol 3. Try as I might I just can't get it to work for me.

yep, works perfectly.  Great colors!

Thanks Adam.

I shot the roll of Cinestill you gave me today. I'll develop it in the next day or two and see how I did.

It definitely seems to be working ok :)

Congratulations Mike!

It certainly is working well. :) I've only run 4 films through it so far but I already have the feeling it's going to get a lot of use.

Gentleme,

I don't seem to find the time at present to closely follow, comment and participate in this wonderful thread. Thank you all for posting those wonderful pictures, thoughts and comments. As to the curious case of Color Implosion: yes, it would be nice if this film would be produced again, and if we can influence this - good. But if not we will find a way to express our ideas in different ways that will be no less impressive. There are other unique films sorely missed, think Autochrome, Agfa APX100 or Kodachrome, and there are some other endangered films around that will soon be lamented extinct species of the past (anything Fuji comes to mind, the way they seem to go...). So lets just get on with our wonderful hobby and lets do the best we can with what we have....

Wishing you all a good and happy week,

Christoph

Thank you for all who support asking Adox about re-introducing Color Implosion. It doesn't hurt to ask, so I posted a question about it on their Q&A page on their website. Someone else had asked a few months ago whether it will be re-produced and here is their answer:

Niall asked 3 months ago

Hello Adox!
I have been using adox colour implosion film and have been absolutely in love with the results I get with this film! The film is very unique and I haven’t found another product like it since it has become unavailable.
My question is will there ever be more colour Implosion?? If there was (and many others I’m sure) would never use another film!!

Hi Niall,
ADOX cannot manufacture any color film at present. Color implosion has been made with a factory which no longer exists and was later modified by us. This is why it had to be a limited edition.
We have sourced more material to be post-processed and we are working on it but it will not be the same.
What did you like most about the film?
Best Regards,
Mirko

Anyway, great support in that they answered this question at least :), if not responded to those of us who contacted them through facebook or whatever :(. I'll keep my eye out for an answer and post it here when it's been received.

And I agree, Christoph - we're a stoic bunch and we'll use whatever we can get our hands on - and, from what we constantly see here, use it well. I just feel that maybe Adox are a progressive, clear thinking company who are not so corporatized as to not listen to their customers. We'll see.

These are really great, Paul - some unusual colours coming from the Portra 160 (and I agree - a great film). Kind of unnerving.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does DX mean?

Thank you for your comments and sorry about that repeating DX. I mean, the ISO was set by the camera. it was an old entry-level camera and ISO was only read through the DX code on the film's canister. I kept noting that since, as you know, Portra 160 can be shot on various + or - stops. But, ok, I think I'll stop mentioning it. Thanks again.

In fact interesting. Which dilution, dev. time, temperature and film speed?

Think its better not to quote including showing the pictures again again and again, I think this is  reasoned by the technique  one uploads his posts, as well it pumps up the thread too unnecessarily and makes it slow, what do  You think ?
