At your service, Steve. Here's the HP5 (box speed) version:

attachicon.gifWB Bridge - HP5.jpg

For comparison, here's the Tri-X (pushed 1 stop) version again:

Hmmm. I think I actually prefer the HP5 version. Better detail under the bridge and yet more contrast on the pillars.

Great image and very interesting comparison!

Cheers

Thanks for your opinion.  I went for the better exposed/visible horizon with the steam and (to me) appealing sheen on the steel legs of the bridge.  Can't go wrong with either, though!

I agree with J :), the HP5 does it for me too in this instance, for the reasons stated.

So pleased, Adam, that you are going to offer some beautiful photographs on F*I*L*M for the LUF charity book! Has anyone else entered work? We really should all consider supporting it if we are able to justify the 30GBP donation to charity. What would it say to the rest of the Leica commuity if the F*I*L*M thread were the best supported in the book? ;)

This gets a 'Wow!' from me, Edward! A beautiful shot.

The colours, and the strength of composition, are simply wonderful in these pictures from Jordan, Edward. You have recognized the wonderful light and used it to brilliant effect.

Awesome, Edward.  Love the different colors in the layers of mountains.

Thank you very much Guys! Much obliged! :)

Already paid. Just trying to edit my choices down to three!

Thanks Adam,

An interesting comparison seeing one against the other. It's a close call, but I think I prefer the HP5 version having more shadow detail. The Ektar version is nice also, but I think the subject is better portrayed in B&W, being more graphic. Colour adds a distraction.

So you were too busy to hang around until they were???? With that level of concentration, only good things can happen. :)

Best,

It was way too early. The final results of the frying operations would have looked like this:

Home made panzerotti typically prepared for the 7th/8th of December in Bari, to celebrate the Immaculate Conception.

Honestly I only care of the food.

Will you be including any work shot on film, John?

So far, my line up has two images shot on film. That may increase as I edit.

Yikes! I have to get it down to three images. (currently at 9)

I am the worlds worse editor. Seeking other opinions.

Thanks for your opinion, Steve.  I think the difference comes down to the one stop push I gave to the Tri-X, which upped the contrast.  My strong sense is that at box speed the Tri-X would have rendered very very close to the HP5.   As for which rendition is "better," for me I wanted something a little more dramatic which is why I pushed the Tri-X (I was actually hoping for a little more).   I also like the shadow detail of the HP5, however.  I think it came out really good. It is, though, somewhat very similar to a photo that I already have in my collection from a few years ago that I took with Tmax 400 (also the SWC):

As for the Ektar version, it was a throw away roll that I wanted to throw into the mix.  In my book, it ended up running the table!

I took the plunge and purchased Diafine. I am curious, are there any films that should specifically NOT be developed in Diafine.

Another question:

All I am able to find concerning the life of the Diafine developer are testimonials such as "it lasts forever." While I love that idea, I am pretty sure it is exaggeration. Is this stuff like C41 color developer, with a life span measured in number of rolls developed?, or, is it's life more a matter of time on the shelf?

I have searched the web and can find nothing other than "forever."

Best,

Wayne

Is that a self portrait? I am trying to wok it out. If it is the mirror the writing "Rolleiflex" would be round the other way. But the "Kodak" inscription seems to be correct so you didn't reverse the negative.

I am probably being very dim...

I think the "KODAK" on the edge of the neg has been flipped.
