Wayne, you have the knack of turning the ordinary into something arty.

I listened to Ralph Gibson describing the time when he asked Dorothea Lange for an assessment of his portfolio. She told him you're missing a point of departure. At first I struggled understanding what was meant, but I think I'm beginning to get it. I just need to find my own without copying another.

Love tis one, Phil, and agree with Edward.  They were great models and the one on the right appears to be salivating over your camera gear, or it is that hot dog you are holding in your other hand?? :)

Indeed it’s not a simple photo of dogs on a truck. It has a documentary quality that makes it really interesting.

Thank you so much, Wayne, Adam and Edward. I am really happy to think it may have some documentary quality!

As it happens Adam it was "Sausage Sizzle" day at Bunnings, but they're difficult enough to eat with two hands without getting mustard, sauce and onions all over you, let alone taking a photograph while holding one! And Leicas smothered with sauce and onions tend to lose their allure somewhat.

We had a contrived competition to name some new metro stations in Melbourne a month or so back, and one of the entries for a station name (along with the perhaps predictable "Station McStation Face") was "Bunnings Sausage Sizzle". Didn't win, unfortunately. I think they went for the exciting name of "State Library" instead.

"Love."

Peter - The mood here is great, as in much of your work. However, I wonder whether the low dMax of the Plustek scanner is not reducing the tonal palette that this shot deserves. Do you feel this limit?

I have Forgotten camera and film. I think it is Fuji Pro 400H and M3 with DR Summicron.

Wayne - that is an abject lesson in simply adorable and Adam - your streets seem to have swapped snow for gum! Great shots both of them.

Thanks, Phil.  You are correct that more of the spots are chewing gum deposits; the balance are dog deposits  :o

I think the most responsible factor here affecting tone is the lens flare from shooting against the light. Speaking of backlighting, I know my digital cameras wouldn't have handled the overall effect as gracefully as film.

With regards to the Plustek, I've never found it terribly limiting.

I actually like the effect in this image, though I recognize many won't.

Peter - I like the lens flare, but would have liked some deeper blacks in the shadows that the lens flare doesn't reach. I've been experimenting with getting highlight roll-off from various bright and harsh backlighting (but less intense and softer in the last one linked below) with my M10. Some of it I like:
