Anybody using Fomapan 400? I was thinking of trying a 100ft roll to bulk load as a cheaper alternative to HP5 and Trix. Just to test some old cameras.

I use and love Fomapan 400, it's a very versatile film, underexpose and underdevelop slightly and you get a very flat image with wonderful greys. Expose at 400 and push the development slightly will give you a lovely punchy, contrasty negative with a slightly gritty grain. Try a few rolls and experiment with it, I doubt you will be disappointed.

I will post a few photos taken on Fomapan tomorrow.

M5 version of a Minox scene I posted earlier this week. Symbolically, see the full sized horse as the M5, and the smaller beasts as the Minox. :)

Contre jour.

Patrick , minus 15°C at 3200 m Chamonix  ... the M7 still works with

Kodak Portra 400 ... not frozen  :D but my fingers yes

When I shoot digital M  many years ago  , I always keep in my pocket

one back up battery  because sometimes camera doesn't work specially

when half discharged

.... It's not the case with analog camera with my experience

Kodak Portra 400-Leica M7-28 Summicron Asph

Chamonix very cold and snowy

I just try to correct in LR and no more ray of sun like in original TIFF

from scanner Nikon 5000. IMO in one photo you must keep its nuance

Picture uncorrected

Philip forget to tell you it's ¨Portra 400

no correction at all and portra developed by myself in Tetenal

I noticed of course carefully the color when I shoot this picture

Another example

Case 2: Is it sunrise or sunset ?

taken from my hotel room in 7 am

same lens 35mm , same place , same moment , same isos

The proof of important distortion or denaturation of original color by modifying the color

The same moment is seen with the jetline in the sky above the smoke of

nuclear plant

Your advice Steve ?

Pure and original B&W picture is better than color picture converted to b&w

I prefer b&w version
