Great find. A roll of Panatomic-X. A film I miss very much. Gone since about 1988. Your results looked good. It had 32 ASA. Lucky guy. Have fun with it!

Received sad news on xmas. In the german magazine PhotoKlassik there is a note, that Fuji abandoned Superia 200, 800 and 1600. So only Superia 400 will be left. Got this message probably a bit to late. These films are all sold out at my dealers.

Did someone else have informations about this?

Superia 1600 production was supposed to be stopped by May 2018, but had no idea about the other ones. Long live Kodak!

Edward and Frank , Fuji takes a wrong way when Kodak sells more and more film , specially Portra said my Kodak seller ... and Fuji continues to increase prices each time

About Fuji who stops or will stop film production , I realize that I am not "impotent"  photographer

since 4 years I  go back to film after 8 years of digital M... and I learn every day when I photograph

"When photography was learned on film, there was a lot of trial and error. Besides learning the three basic functions – Aperture, Exposure time, and ISO – you had to do lots of experimentation. You had to try different films to see what you liked best for certain conditions and subjects.

Without an LCD screen to preview your image, you could invest a great deal of time, money, and effort and end up with a batch of bad photos because you made a mistake, don’t like the results of that film, or just didn’t take good photos.... Racking up a pile of uninspiring images can be very demoralizing. This can cause people with only a casual interest in photography to give up, or move on to a different hobby.

Then you have digital cameras. Powerful photographic tools that advance in technology, year after year, making photography fast and easy. You don’t have to think at all just pick up the camera and shoot.

Photography is art. Should art be “easy”?..."

...with a bonus your daughter...

Thank you, Henry. I didn't know she was there. Looking closely at the negative, she appears very mischievous.

I was too fascinated by the mighty Kauri's (Father of the Forest). This example is probably about 2,000 years old, and brings an amazing perspective to the short term nature of our priorities.

Yes Henry. I agree. But here the Kodaks are even more expensive then the Fujis and Kodak sadly also have announced an increase of 5%.

But I'm afraid Fuji can still live with there digital stuff while Kodak can't.

Long live Kodak!

Yes. But to be honest I prefer the Fuji colors. The old Portra NC was also great, but with the new Portra and Ektar I'm not really satisfied. Not as sharp and no fun to scan.

My refrigerators are filled and will last a few years maybe. But wonder what to do in the long run? Maybe switch to BW completely?

Long live film! Hope they made up there mind.

On the Fuji 200 discontinuance: does this mean Agfa Vista is in danger of the same thing?  I have read/heard that the Agfa film was re-branded Fuji Superia. I know nothing of these things but hope it not true. I like the Superia films but have always preferred the Agfa films............Being aware that my perceived preference may be just a figment of my imagination.

I heard about this last summer and it made me sad. Still, Fuji has been taking wrong turn after wrong turn, it seems to me and are all too easily giving up on film photographers. Which is sad, because we're a resilient bunch. It's actually a bit like Kodak's manoeuvres with respect to digital photography way back when, but the other way around. It's time Fuji showed some spine and removed the word "film" from www.fujifilm.com, methinks.

As much as I love Fuji, I'm moving more and more to Kodak.

I also think the first is my favorite.  He seems like a cuddly individual :)

This series is of a gentleman chess player in Union Sq ... great guy, Cuban by birth .... Would love to know which portrait you guys think best ..

Henry - Yes, I think they based the price of the film on each grain you get :)

Adox color has much grain in comparison with Portra 400 ?

Nice composition and framing Adam

Could be the Fuji C200 that seemed to be still available, but I don't know. This film isn't as bad as some other re-branded films, but not as good as the Superia 200.

I do like the Fuji 200, 400, and 800 Superia film. I hate hear of the demise of any of them. I guess it goes to seeing things from one's own point of view, but I get the impression that film IS making something of a comeback......At least in my local universe. Admittedly, my general social group is not experiencing anything of a film renaissance, but then that particular group does not include any others who participate in the photo hobby. However, at the local camera shop I frequent about half of the staff has keen interest in film photography. They are all young, i.e. under 30.

I suppose it is somewhat of a blessing that Fujifilm seems to be the only consistent source of bad news for film junkies. It seems Kodak, and others....even new companies, are a source of good cheer.

I mean, Polaroid (at least in name and form) is back on the shelves.

Best,

Wayne
