Neil, not a bad result for a 1st go. In fact better than that!

You might consider acquiring a plastic tank, of suitable dimensions, so you can stand all the chem bottles and the dev tank in at the same time. Fill it with water at the correct (38 Deg C) temp and that will give a larger volume of water bath, hence more stability. Stability (or rather consistency) of temp is more important than accuracy.

Thats pretty much what I do. I have one bucket that can hold all 4 bottles of the chemo and that is filled with water 100 degrees F. That bucket is also placed in the sink that is also full of 100 deg F water (bigger volume less chance of temperature drop) when I take out the Dev bottle and poor that in the tank with the film in it, that gives me room to pop that tank in the bucket with the 100 degrees water

Looking out over the Vale of White Horse in Oxfordshire (though historically this was Berkshire). Dragon Hill (where St. George reputedly slew the dragon  ) is in the middle distance and the Uffington White Horse is in the foreground right. This is the northern edge of the chalk uplands that incorporates the downs in Keith's recent photographs. The previously discussed Ridgeway is a hundred yards or so to the south of this position.

Anyone doing their own C41 processing...

 

I'm pretty committed to trying it and hope for some advice. I don't have a rotary processor so will be just doing it in the same Paterson tanks I use for black and white. Is this what any of you do? Also, the Tetenal chemistry which seems to be the most easy to obtain and economical specifies that temperatures must be kept to within +/- 0.2 degrees celsius. Is this feasible? How do you get those temperatures that accurate?

 

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

After considerable thinking and searching for a heated bath, something that is capable of holding all bottles of chemistry and developing tank, I discovered that many of the common, cheap foot massagers/baths are heated, and can be set to a range of temperatures that includes those necessary to C41 process.  As chemistry never enters bath water, it, the massager, can be used to massage your feet, or your wife's, after the arduous task of standing in front of the bath during the development process. In fact, you can quickly gain approval of wife, for purchase of massger, by suggesting that the family deserves a foot massager............never mentioning the fact that the device will serve a collateral purpose.

Thanks, Adam. I've been too busy with work to even glance at a camera (except for a couple of assignments with Make-A-Wish). I'm trying to snatch some silver moments while I can, and just got back from a trip to NZ where I had the freedom to do some happy snaps (and catch up with Gary .

Thanks, Phil. The other photo is actually of the start, not the finish. That's the Team Sprint, which is a 3-man timed event, with the lower down rider leading for the 1st lap before peeling off. 2nd rider leads the topmost rider for the 2nd lap before handing over for the 3rd rider to take the final lap. Usually 2 teams start on opposite sides of the track, and it is full noise all the way.
