Thanks, Marc.  The impressive thing to me about the photo is the minimal color shift despite the very long exposure (which I recall was over 2 minutes).

I like your composition much better than mine; I centered the fountain, the background doesn't setup as well...need to do this one over ;)  Great colors.

This is fabulous, Marc.  The colors of the Ektar are gorgeous.    I don't see the newton rings, but I find them all the time later on and it drives me crazy!!!

Yes....that exposure was about 2:30, very impressive.

Thanks Adam, much appreciated. I agree...Ektar colors are just incredible.   The stupid ring is on the right side, center, about an inch off the edge.  I'll give the negative a few more days to flatten out and then re-do.

This is just fabulous Gary - what miserable expressions these two have, even dressed as they are for a party! And the details - why is she holding a beer coaster? What is the nature of her leg injury? Love it!

OK Marc and Adam - you win! Your beautiful pictures of New York have me seriously considering Ektar again, and I felt inclined to search the archives for an example from my rare use of it. I found this one, and will most likely track down a few rolls to use again:

This is wonderful, Gary.  Such a simple scene yet - as has been said - so much to enjoy.  For me the viewing party is kicked off by the sunglasses, closely followed by the pint of beer... :)

Leica M6 - 35mm Summicron

My photography is generally project driven. A theme to explore and draw on for inspiration, often the project grows beyond the confines of photography and when it does the experience is infinitely more rewarding. Mostly my projects are rounded off with an album to gather dust in an obscure corner, but for a recent project I wanted to do things differently. Now that my scanner thing is working I'm putting a web page together and with me not being fond of computers, it's a challenge. While I aspire to decorative art over social documentary admittedly the latter is the theme of this project and has prompted some commitment too to the continuation of the main subject, a lovely building which deserves to live on in a new incarnation...... Essen  I'm curious as to your thoughts, perhaps rather than derail this thread if you have some comment or criticism rather send me a pm.

Wonderful colors Phil; based on this example I'd make sure you always have a roll of Ektar with you ;)  Lovely Photo.

I think I prefer the view looking out. That footpath sign is begging to be observed (and getting away from Sainsbury's has to be a nice bonus).  :D

Thanks all, the "scene" was off to one side. We had just returned to our stop (Palanca) where we were staying on Guidecca (Venice).

There was a decent gathering of people on the canal side, where we would normally walk. It transpired they were shooting a movie scene, or trying to. But being such a public area, it was continually interrupted by passing spectators, and tourists.

The two I posted earlier and this shot were from either participants, or locals out for a look.
