Centuries Collide.

I normally have a healthy respect for Amish, and their aversion from being photographed; but this couple, passing the grocery store on their way to market in West Salem, Ohio, was too much to resist.

I love this one. It made me think of a conversation I had, with one of my daughters, the other day:

Most men are a lot like dogs: like to hang around cars; hope to escape notice; like to be scratched and fed on a regular basis.......Simple creatures, really

I am fascinated by old houses or ruins. They are so mysteriously, I guess. Very nice pictures ...

That's beautiful, Philip. I've stood in exactly that spot, but unfortunately only have a digital picture to show for it .

Seems I've always had a thing for waterfalls...

Phil,

Your picture is really impressive ... Very nice! Did you use ND-Filter?

Thanks, Gregor!  The rainbow colors running across the water kind of remind me of a giant oil spill :)  The Ektar held its own out there; looking forward to sharing more!

Thank you so much Gregor! No, back in 1979 I didn't know what an ND filter was! With just 25 ISO, Agfapan 25 pretty much ensured you didn't need one anyway - this would have been at f16, so a slow shutter speed would have been used (1/2 sec?).

Adam - this is superb. Your fortitude and determination to get out there in those early mornings has been well rewarded. The colours in this landscape are simply breathtaking.

I've been trawling the archives (again!). This is from my first ever trip to Paris:

Very nice, Edward. These two are my favourites, the play of light on the water and the feeling of the water's power, thanks for taking a soaking for us!

A much more static shot of a local sculpture. Rolleiflex/Tri-X.

Thank you very much for the kind comments, Coogee :)

You almost fooled me with this shot. I thought it was a human :D The b/w tones are superb.

Very nice architecture shots, Martin. Framing is excellent.

Love this shot! Everything falls nicely in place, and perfect moment.

Gorgeous lines. Fantastic!

From a very wet and overcast Bergen, Norway. One might think that this image has been desaturated and selectively saturated but apart from setting the black point this is pretty much the image that came out of the scanner.

This is a great shot, Philip, with a lot of potential. Needs just a touch of PP to bring out the red in the umbrella.

That's a wow shot, Adam! One of the best from the dead sea series.

Yes, the colors are so fantastic and the Ektar is a great film ... but only in combination with good photographer :)

Please share more!
