blackandwhite Posted June 19, 2017 Share #34841 Posted June 19, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did I post one of these ? I don't remember... anyway, this was shot with the Rollei 35S, pretty small camera wich I somehow fell in love with. Not a Leica for sure, but the 40/2.8 Zeiss Sonnar lens is doing a good job. I still did not understand all about this cam, simply shot the film that was in it for ... 30 ? years ??? or more - a HP4, that was sleeping in the camera that was given to me by my friend. Devellopment in Paranol S 1:50 for 30 minutes. These are scans my wife made from the negatives - I'll hopefully find the time to make baryte paper prints soon of some of these shots. Hope You enjoy. And that makes me think of somebody who asked about Anselm Adams and all the guys shooting large format. I believe some of us are trying to get there or already do. I'm into middle format cams up to now but really want to try out 4x5" or even larger scales. One has to take its time. Doing things is what is "the" thing. And as it is endless, infinite, like everything in the Universe ... Jean-Marie Welcome, dear visitor! Doc Henry Posted June 20, 2017 Author Share #34850 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Most of the time I devellop, film and pictures, mostly on non-glossy / mat baryt paper (Ilford FB) , no correction filters, then scan the photograph and adjust contrast when necessary on Photoshop. Sometimes my wife scans my pics, I don't have a scanner. There's no absolute truth in photography, simply one has preferences. Mine is to work as simply as possible. But I do admire people who use zooms, close-up lenses and so on. I don't as I am not very much into too technical things. But the many many different positions / tastes / possibilities are part of the fun:-) Hi Jean-Marie,in addition what you said, I don't post process in film in the majority of cases because I don't need really ,the image that comes out of the scanner is "compatible" with what I saw . I say "compatible" , not perfect yet On the other hand in digital (M8, M9) yes and always I correct . I have posted many examples above of the "distortion" that we can have. Because I confess , I am not competent and I do not want to play the "apprentice sorcerer" (term in French which means that "when you do not know , you do not touch") I show another example , here are two pictures taken with M9 (CCD Kodak sensor) and M7 Picture in DNG > Jpeg > no correction (picture 1) At first glance flowers and blue sky are beautiful Leica M9 160 Isos -Summicron 28 Asph Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! but when you compare we have this picture below, taken at the same time with M7, at the same place , just a little at right Leica M7-Summilux 35 Asph-Kodak Portra 160 (picture 2) and correction digital picture in LR .You noticed that even corrected, the blue color is not still the same ! (picture 3) In conclusion : I don't need to correct the Kodak Portra because it's fine , the sky is "nearly" like I see the color of leaves and branches are not the same too in comparison with digital ! brief , the color is more beautiful , more natural , more consistancy in film > Advantage film Best Henry Edited June 20, 2017 by Doc Henry
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! but when you compare we have this picture below, taken at the same time with M7, at the same place , just a little at right Leica M7-Summilux 35 Asph-Kodak Portra 160 (picture 2) and correction digital picture in LR .You noticed that even corrected, the blue color is not still the same !
